Christ the King Sunday

November 22 2009This Sunday, November 22nd 2009, is the last Sunday in the liturgical year and a new year starts next Sunday with the first Sunday of Advent. The four Sundays of Advent then lead us to the Christmas season, which starts at midnight on Christmas Eve and lasts for twelve days.

The last Sunday of the liturgical year is known as “Christ the King Sunday” and yet few of us know much about kings – we don’t have one here in the US! The people at the time of Jesus had specific understandings of kingship and talking about Christ as King actually meant something quite significant.

Join us this Sunday, November 22nd, at 6:00 p.m. at the Driscoll Alumni Center on Bancroft Street at University Hills Boulevard for worship. Come early for fair-trade tea, coffee and cocoa and then stay after worship as we gather at a local restaurant to continue the conversation at our Afterglow!  We hope to see you there!
