Not far from the church is Reynolds Elementary School. We staff and operate an afterschool program, summer program, and mentoring program at the school to help children and their families who live in our neighborhood. We have helped to organize GED classes, parenting classes, and have established vegetable gardens both at the school and at neighboring apartment complexes.

Through our interactions with the school community, Community Health Workers are able to help adults at risk for chronic disease by working with them to negotiate the healthcare system and to avoid negative social determinants of health, such as poor diet, lack of exercise, and so on. Our work with Toledo Public Schools and The University of Toledo’s Healthcare Access Initiative led to pediatric services being delivered at the school by Rocket Pediatrics at Reynolds.
We are always looking for potential tutors and helpers in this very extensive community endeavor. Please contact our pastor to arrange a meeting. You can find our Reynolds Elementary School community on facebook here.
