Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday

Throughout the past few Sundays, we have been discussing how Lent is a time of preparation for Easter. As the days lengthen toward spring and flowers start to bloom, nature reflects the new life we receive through Christ. Easter is all about new life, isn’t it? It is through our new life in Christ that we no longer see a group we call “us” and a group we call “them,” but acknowledge that we are all one, fellow travelers on the earth. Through the work of the cross we can come face-to-face with our own brokenness as well as our own status as redeemed and beloved children of God. Instead of outsiders, we belong; no longer strangers, we are family through Christ.

We hope that you will join your church family here at The University Church for two special worship gatherings during this season. We will be observing Maundy Thursday on April 13, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. and commemorating the meal that Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion. We will be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 at 9:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. These are wonderful opportunities to invite your family and friends to come and get to know your church family and to hear the good news.

As the weather becomes warmer and the natural world around us wakes up, may it continue to remind us that we are part of something larger than ourselves and that we too can experience new life.
