Garden Director 2018

Dear University Church Family,

Starting January 15th I will be officially starting a new job and moving on from being your Garden Director. I will still be in NW Ohio and still working in agriculture for a tech start-up called FreshSpoke. I’m beyond excited about the new opportunity, and equally pleased to leave this place in such thoughtful care.

Tyler Freeman will become the Garden Director at that time, and is already primed to execute a successful year. When he began working here through Americorps, I knew he had the demeanor and necessary traits to become an incredible asset for our organization. He has become irreplaceable, and has the support of a very capable and dedicated staff of Americorps VISTAs; other local farmers and gardeners; and of course, YOU.

It is not without mixed emotions that I transition. The University Church has been the greatest work experience of my life. My children have grown here. I’ve actually shed blood, sweat, and tears here. At the same rate I was ministering to others, you all ministered to me. During my employ, my family and I have undergone a few surgeries, a third child, a Lyme diagnosis, a broken ankle, and all sorts of other pains and triumphs that are a part of being human. It’s been a miracle to have a community’s unconditional love and support. Thanks for putting up with me. Thanks for being there. I’ll be around.

With Gratitude,
Scott
