TUC School Outreach Team Helps Students Reach New Heights

The University Church’s School Outreach team has kicked-off 2018 with some new and exciting ways for students and their families to grow. With the start of the new year our Reynolds School team has experienced renewed enthusiasm from the students, parents, and mentors who are involved with our after school and mentoring programs. Our Rogers Outreach team is even extending their programming a few days in response to student interest and request.

The Reynolds Outreach team is hard at work planning their annual Touch-A-Truck event for April 14, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds Elementary. This very successful and popular event builds connections between community partners and the families at Reynolds Elementary through exploration and STEAM based activities. Students have the opportunity to touch, climb, and connect with vehicles of all shapes and sizes; everything from motorcycles to fire trucks and everything in between. Look for special appearances from local celebrities and mascots as well. We look forward to all the great connections that will develop through this event.

The Rogers Outreach team is in the process of launching a new student leadership team in February. Through an application process, this new student leadership team will have the opportunity for leadership develop training and practical opportunities to practice leadership skills. The Rogers Outreach team has also introduced new enrichment elements to their program through writing workshops with a local author, cooking classes with a local chef, yoga sessions with a certified instructor, and college visits.

Thank you to all of our friends and supporters who contribute to the success of these programs. We are so thankful for the opportunity to support the families and children in our neighborhood.
